Deacon Edward Nathaniel Bristel was born on May 11, 1948, in Huntington, New York, to George and Alice Bristel. He was the eighth of twelve children. On February 14, 2026, he peacefully departed this life.

Edward received his early education in the Copiague Public School District and later attended schools within the New York City Public School System. In 1967, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He served honorably and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal in recognition of his courage and distinguished service before receiving an honorable discharge. Raised in a devoted Christian household, Edward’s spiritual foundation was firmly established from childhood. With his mother serving faithfully as a Church Mother, he was nurtured in the principles of holiness and unwavering faith. After his family relocated from Amityville to Brooklyn, Edward spent his formative teenage years there. Determined to forge a purposeful path, he chose service to his country over the distractions of the streets, a decision that reflected his strength of character and discipline. Following his military service, Edward met and married the love of his life, Nina Jean (Collier), in February 5th, 1972. Their union of fifty-four years was blessed with three beloved children: Carmella, LaTaunce, and Nathan. In June 2025, he endured the profound loss of his son, LaTaunce who preceded him in death. Edward dedicated more than forty years of faithful employment to Eaton Corporation before retiring. In 1972, he accepted Christ as his Savior, marking the beginning of a deep and abiding commitment to Christian service. He was appointed as a Deacon and served with diligence, humility, and joy. Whether through the Food Pantry Ministry, custodial work, providing transportation, or assisting wherever needed, Edward exemplified a servant’s heart and steadfast devotion to the work of the Lord.
Edward survived by his wife, Nina Jean, a daughter, Carmella (Farley) Banks, Lima, OH, one son, Nathan (Dani) Bristel, Marion, OH Daughter in Law Courtney Bristel, Kenton, OH. Three grandchildren Jaede Bristel (Melvin Powell, Jr.) Columbus, OH, Kaden Bristel and Addisyn Bristel, Marion, OH. Two brothers, Bishop Walter (Theresa) Willie, Elder Joseph (Eleanor) Bristel, both in New York, four sisters, Dorothy Giliam (New York), Juanita Nelson, Joyce Willie of Marion
