Donald Coulson Obituary

Mr. Donald Ernest Coulson, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. He was born on November 7, 1936, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Wayne William Coulson and Grace Vivian (Bechtel) Coulson.

Following his graduation from high school, Donald proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his distinguished 20-year military career, he served two tours of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War and was stationed in several locations throughout his service, including New Hampshire and Texas. He faithfully served his country as a Staff Sergeant and retired. His years in the Air Force were a source of great pride and accomplishment.

Donald was married three times and now is widowed. He will be remembered as a good-hearted man who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Gentle, calm, and collected, he was not easily irritated, but those who knew him well, would say that he could become a fireball if pushed. He enjoyed spending his spare time exploring yard sales in search of unique specialty items, especially pocketknives, of which he had dozens. Proud of his Native American heritage, he favored purchasing hidden treasures such as wind chimes and dream catchers. Above all, Donald was most proud of his family. His children lovingly describe him as an awesome father who always listened, offered steady guidance, and corrected without ridicule. His quiet strength and unwavering support will forever remain a treasured memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two former wives; his brother, Robert Coulson; and his sisters, Nancy Boganwright, Linda Brown, and Sherry Vanderpool.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Jay Dee (Vickie) Coulson and William (Debbie) Coulson; his daughters, Vivian Kay Loyer and Theresa Garner; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with even more nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
